The Last Drive-In Part 11: The Legend of Boggy Creek (1972)

Part 11 was my favorite stretch of the marathon.  JBB used to show this one on MonsterVision a lot back in the day and I was hooked.  It's one of the few DVDs I own that I can truly say that I've worn out.  The movie tells the story of Fouke, AR, and how the nearby residents are being terrorized by a 3-toed bigfoot.  In the middle of this chaos is the extensive Crabtree family, a trailer of teenage girls whose cat is scared to death by the monster, and the final family that has a severe run-in with the creature.

This has the best information provided by JBB regarding any of the movies shown on the marathon.
He gives a detailed bio on director Charles B. Pierce, who would go on to make several more films and write one of the most famous lines of  Clint Eastwood's career.  What makes pierce so fascinating is that he was a do-it-yourselfer in terms of film making.  He rebuilt a camera, borrowed money from a trucking company and convinced the real-life Crabtree family to star as themselves in this film.

This is also the last part of the marathon to feature a guest. Lyle Blackburn, self-proclaimed expert on the Boggy Creek monsters, stopped by to talk turkey, plug his books and get in this song:

And of course, Darcy showed up to show off her . . . monster outfit.

Four Stars.
